I have just purchased a used Nintendo Wii, and I have played my first Rockband song (Bob Dylan's "Tangled up in Blue") with my son over the internet. Awesome, except my router went down and will have to configure another. Ugh! My sons will be giving me Beatles Rockband for Christmas, I'm about to finish school, and I may be getting my very own car! After my son purchases his "new" one. His old one is a '99 Saturn SC2 with a crappy paint job over the fiberglass body. Maybe I can get it repainted. At least it should get good gas mileage and be cheap to insure! I should get my street cred back when I stop driving the '93 Cadillac Deville. Actually I would have it if I could trick it out with some rims!
If anybody wants to play, let me know. I'll put you on my friend list on Rockband!

Not being so into the games scene nowadays, I'm not sure if I'm talking about the right games console. Is it Beatles Rockband that's just been released? I thought it looked pretty cool, and is enough for me to pester my friends that do have game consoles.
However....(ARGH!) did anyone see the launch of it on TV. I was watching, and I thought, "Please Ringo, don't do it". And then he did....he did his bloody peace sign with his fingers! AAAARGH!!!! ENOUGH ALREADY RINGO!!! Some of us are quite sick of it!!! Yes, peace is a very nice thing to aspire to, and I'm happy to do what I can towards it. But please Ringo, the peace sign at every public occasion is getting very tiresome!!
(Sorry to sound grumpy. But I just KNEW he'd do it. It makes me feel like getting a group of people together to post him a sack of items to be autographed, just to piss him off...knowing his silly public statement that time about not signing anything).
(rant ends!)

I am getting the Nintendo Wii version, and there is definitely an XBOX version, maybe a Playstation 3 version.
Hey, Helen! If both have a Wii, we could play together! The timing would be horrid, but maybe we can find a time! Let's see. . . you must be 12 hours ahead of me--one of us will be up late!
Let me know, maybe we can work something out.
The cool thing about Beatles Rockband is it has 3 part harmonies, which I love! I'll finally beat my son on vocals. I haven't ever beat him on any instrument.

I got this game yesterday, and beat all the songs! It was really fun, although I had to play a lot of it on expert, because 'hard' was so easy. Oh well. The cutout scenes were GREAT, and some of the backgrounds were wonderful as music videos for the Beatles. The artwork and the music are the main strengths of it, I think. Yes, there are less songs on Beatles: Rock Band than other RockBand and Guitar Hero games, but in my opinion it's worth buying.

Beatles Rockband wasn't mean to be a huge challenge because of their style of music. It's not full of fast punk and heavy metal lead guitar. It was made for Beatle fans and to expose another generation to their music. It will probably be the only Guitar Hero/Rockband game I will beat. I have changed my goals from expert at guitar to expert at bass and hard at drums. I haven't practiced drums as much as guitar yet. I am a rhythm guitar player. I've only played "air" drums, but I'd like to give it a go.
Unfortunately, I have to wait until Christmas to get mine. My son is going to open it and practice vocals so we can sing together. He doesn't know many of the songs. I can probably master most of the harmonies.
Don't forget about downloadable content!

E, You have played admirably on Beatles Rockband! You represent the younger generation well!
But how do you do on the other games?
Do you wanna sell that game?

It's a GREAT idea, and I'd love to, but I don't know how possible it is. Firstly, I'm very new to it, and have actually only played one song on the first "Guitar Hero" when it came out. We just don't play it when I'm round there...I suppose because I'm not really into other games, they assume I'm not into that. Also, it'd be really tricky to organise a time that suited these friends. They live the opposite end of town to me, they work full-time, and it'd probably be a hard job to prise one of them off Grand Theft Auto or something similar for long enough!
But if something becomes possible I will definitely let you know!!

I think the phrase you're looking for in this circumstance is "we can work it out".

Sun Sep 20, 2009 3:15 pm RUTLES Rockband!!! |
|
|
Well, as I mentioned in another posting, http://neilinnes.org/innesboard/viewtopic.php?t=2799&start=15
....I've finally tried Beatles Rockband, and I love it!
I couldn't help but notice, in one scene in the background, 3 or 4 very conspicuous cups of tea. Well, conspicuous to me I suppose. But I couldn't help but wonder if there was a little Rutles reference thrown in there. You know, one for the fans that know some of the Beatles folklore stuff...
Anyway, the thing I'm wondering, (and I know this probably sounds silly, but...) how possible is it for people to design their own stuff to suit the Rockband format? Do we have any programmers out there that can do this sort of thing, even if it's only for an unofficial thing?
Because I reckon it'd be GREAT to have Rutles Rockband!!! Come on folks, surely it can be done somehow?!? The love of fans has got soooo many things done.
I suppose there's still the absurd and totally unfair situation where the Rutles songs are credited to the Beatles, as I saw in one release of the Rutles (was it the re-release of Archaeology?) I still think that is a totally fucked up situation! Sorry for the language, but it does totally shit me off to have a situation like that. Neil's Rutle songs are brilliant, and they'e HIS.
Back to the point....any good programmers out there?

Helen, but they are a "parody of" the word plagiarism could also have been used in legal terms, they are still good dont get me wrong, but credit to the Beatles has to be maintained.
Clearly Neil and Vivian could write about anything, any subject any style with comfort - MOUA is a fantastic african stylee/reggae influence, IBOR touched on every medium he is a genius!
But Beatles stand alone and we Brits are very protective of the Fab three and average one!

I thought he was just reminding everyone how many Beatles there still are.

I have no time for playing rock band games, what with real musical instruments needing attention, and used to look down my nose at them, but recently I had a change of heart after talking to a bunch of 10 to 15 year-olds. They were raving about bands like The Sex Pistols, and other 30 year old stuff. "How do you guys know all this old music?" I asked. You know the answer! So now I see it as a good thing, if it gets kids interested in real music, instead of all the rap and synthpop drudgery that's big now.
I'm not all all comfortable with the "unlockable" image of Kurt Cobain singing other band's songs, though. That's gross misrepresentation, and I'm glad that wild woman is doing something sensible for a change, i.e., suing them.
