Hi,

If you have time and an inclination for some classical music (Russian), come to my orchestra's first concert, Sept. 25th at 8 pm in the Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach. Tickets are $15 or $10 for students and seniors. We are playing Shostakovich 9th Symphony and Prokofiev 3rd Piano Concerto.

I can step into the audience afterward and say hi. It would be nice to see you again. Also, you are not going to believe how good this college orchestra is. We're doing an insanely difficult program, especially for a season opener, and for the most part we are already kicking butt.

Hope to see you there,

Hi again, how is everyone?

My next orchestra concert is Fri. March 5th at 8 pm at the Carpenter Center in Long Beach. We're playing the Beethoven Egmont overture, "Tzigane" for violin and orchestra (by Ravel), the Copland clarinet concerto and finishing with Beethoven's 5th!

If any of you in the L.A. area plan on attending, e-mail or pm me so I can give you my phone # and we can meet up after. Smile Bonnie, I still have your videos! It has been over a year, how about I give them back to you?

I'd actually like to go to that! But is it some hoity toity affair where you have to dress in fancy clothes that I don't have anything close to or can you come in jeans? Is it like the fancy party before the three stooges throw the pie in the rich lady's face?

And at some point in the evening they're going to let you stand on stage alone under a single spotlight and play Innes Book theme, right?

Oh yeah, the videos! Yeah I guess I should get them back. Did you ever listen to any of those NISA CDs?

YOU KNOW WHAT?? I just thought of this. Dude, you should totally have someone videotape you playing Innes Book so everyone else can see what those of us who've heard you play it have been raving about for a year!

It is not hoity-toity at all and you can wear jeans. But when the violinist has finished playing Tzigane please don't yell out, "Yeah, but she can't play Innes Book like Madeleine can!"Shocked
I can't play it on stage because we wouldn't want to minimize the impact of Beethoven 5 by following it with something even better. Very Happy

I get one comp ticket and if you are definitely going then I will reserve it at will-call for Bonnie. That will save you $15 but there is still $5 for parking. (It's on the SW corner of Atherton and Palo Verde.) And I'll buy you a drink at Ave. 3 Pizza afterward for coming to the concert. And there will be pizza which the conductor always buys for us and which you are welcome to partake in. And I will finally return your media smorgasbord.

The NISA CDs are awesome! He's really in his element talking about comedy and pianists. I listen to them over and over!

I would be honored to contribute to your esteemed website. :) Oh that's right, some ego warriors in Chicago also wanted me to record it and put it up on Youtube, but it's such a pain to rummage around for the tripod and get it all set up and record and then try to figure out how to upload it. I was hunkered down in a practice room in Austria during the first 5 years of the whole internet/cell phone tech boom, so am not as tech-savvy as most.

btw, Did you happen to finish the animation of Ken playing that James Taylor song? That was pretty incredible, how accurately you got the fingering action.

Gosh I hadn't thought of it that way. You're right. That's really noble of you. :)

Don't give me the comp ticket yet! I'll go if Laurie can go, since I'd be too freaked out going by myself. I'm still waiting to hear back from her if she's going to be working or not that night.

Oh yeah I showed you the video of Ken playing that huh when I was still working on that. God, that's like 4 animations ago now!

I'll see if I can get my video camera working again (by that I mean if I can ever find the power cord to it) and maybe I can shoot you playing it myself, because seriously, it's gold I tells ya!!

Maddy, my son has played the Egmont. Awesome piece!

I wasn't present when you played for Neil in Chicago. I don't know how I missed it. I'd love to hear it.

Whilst we are expounding the fruit of our loins my sons band You And What Army (YAWA) were on Red Bull Jam yesterday at 5 oclock and performed three numbers, sound quality was average but certainly heightened their profile check it out!
