NEIL WEEK IN HOLLYWOOD 2003

This one time we arranged our own rock & roll fantasy camp Neil Innes concert.
We got to pick all the songs. And be in it. And hang out with Neil and Friends all week.
It was a very good week that week. And here are a whole lotta photos to prove it really happened.

  • Misc
  • Alley
  • R Dean
  • RK
  • Thomas
  • Vet Ken

The poster for our big show we planned for months then things happened. Google the date. That kind of put a damper on it, but we still had a blast! No horrible pun intended.

HAHAHAHAHA 'neilinnes.org presents'

The LA Times interviewed Neil when he was here for this week and this was the photo they took for the article.

Emo Philips (yes THE Emo Philips!) and John Altman at rehearsal

Neil at the other day of rehearsal. Did I mention this was a whole Neil week? :)

Neil and John Altman at rehearsal. These two have made beautiful music together for over 30 years, so this was so heartwarming to see I almost cried.

Then at the concert, they did it again.

Having ex-Bonzo Joel Druckman on bass made our little show yet even cooler.

A big silly.

Greg Stevens on drums. Really really good drummer. Really really really really really really good.

Bill Kates and his recorder really made Urban Spaceman finally sound right!

I believe this was Bill doing an oral approximation of Vivian's funnel hose

How's this for a Bonzo-caliber Hollywood dive!! Our second more intimate acoustic show at the now nonexistant Lava Lounge.

Laurie, Bonnie, Eric Idle, Rutling Ken Thornton, Neil. Proof this really happened because I still can't believe it!

Everybody sang along with the Rutles songs.
It was a really neat little show.

Aww!!

Neil's quacksie was stolen by a drunken fan after the 1650 show. Laurie gave Neil a Quacksie she had bought on eBay, and here Neil is telling that story. Then the guy who stole it brought it back to Neil shortly after this picture was taken along with an apology note. That took guts & class!

I don't remember this guy's name but I think he's a custom guitar maker and supplier and friend of Eric Idle
