GREETINGS CAMPERS!
For many people in the Chicago area, the weekend of August
17th thru 19th, was Beatlefest 2001. But for us Innes Scouts, we all know
that it was really, secretly, the hosting spot for "Neilfest 2001", and
the base for Camp Neil! With more Innes Scouts in attendance than we imagined,
and with several more new recruits, it was an amazing weekend of music,
merriment, frivolity... and occasionally some Beatles stuff!
Our beloved
Scout Master, Neil himself was there, friendly as could be, and giving enlightening
life lessons! ( Which we'd all repeat, if it weren't for the fact that it
was really late at night... and well, a few drinkies later... we forgot.)
Scout Master Neil brought along his German counterpart, Pfadfinder Meister
Klaus Voorman ( as seen on the website "Voormannerisms To Live By" ), whom
delighted us with stories and George Harrison impressions. We even had appearances
by Rutling Ken Thornton and Martin Lewis.
Many merit badges were earned
this year... high on the list were: Social Drinking, Camp Sing-A-Longs,
Entertaining The Elderly, Sandwich Making and Photography and Visual Arts.
Many kudos to all at our jamboree this year, for your fine work.
Now what
follows, is a scrapbook of Neilfest 2001, photos, words, and sounds contributed
by many Neil Scouts in attendance... capturing the Audio, the Visual, and
dare I say it... even the Smells of Neilfest 2001!
On behalf
of my fellow Camp
Neil councilors, Bonnie, Laurie and Christine, we welcome you to The Neilfest
Experience, and hope in future more Innes Scouts can attend, and send
in their own personal experiences to share as well!
Semper Innes! ~
